YOSHIMURA SUZUKI’S BAGGETT AND BISCEGLIA SOLID AT MUDDY CREEK

Baggett 8th and Bisceglia 12th in Tennessee National

Chino, CA (June 27, 2016) – Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing was back to full capacity with two riders this weekend at a hot and humid Muddy Creek Raceway in Blountville, Tennessee, round five of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. The race was viewed not only by a large crowd on site, but by a national-television audience on NBC as well.

Blake Baggett was strong in his return to the series after a month off due to an injury sustained at the beginning of the season. Baggett raced his Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 to an 8-7 for eighth overall, his best result of the season.

Matt Bisceglia’s term as a substitute rider for the Yoshimura Suzuki was extended to a third weekend as James Stewart stayed home in Florida with his expecting wife. Bisceglia went 14-12 to finish 12th overall.

In his return to competition Baggett began the weekend at Muddy Creek by qualifying ninth with a time of 2:01.640. Bisceglia was 12th on the timing charts with a 2:02.083.

In moto one neither Baggett or Bisceglia got especially great starts, in fact Bisceglia was near the very back of the pack after a crash in the first corner. In spite of sub-par starts, both Yoshimura Suzuki riders made serious progress through the field using the precise handling of their Suzuki RM-Z450s – Baggett going from 15th out of the gate to eighth and Bisceglia an amazing charge from 37th to 14th.

In the second moto both riders got top-10 starts out of the gate and used that to their advantage by each scoring better results - Baggett 7th and Bisceglia 12th.

For Baggett it was an encouraging comeback and a benchmark as he continues racing the rest of the outdoor nationals this summer.

“All in all, it was pretty good,” Baggett said. “I was inside the top ten in both motos. It’s a step forward and not bad for a comeback. My RM-Z worked great and I feel good, so I’m looking forward to next weekend.”

Bisceglia has acquitted himself well in his short run with Yoshimura Suzuki and his first nationals in the 450 class.

“It was a solid overall day,” Bisceglia commented. “I had a crash in the first turn of the first moto. I used the power of my RM-Z to come back from something like 40th place to 14th. And then I was close to the top ten in the second moto. It was definitely a hot day today. I gave it everything I had and that’s all I can ask for.”

Yoshimura Suzuki and the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship swing back into action next weekend during the annual Fourth of July Holiday weekend at the RedBud National in Buchanan, Michigan, on Saturday, July 2nd. Racing coverage begins at 10:00 AM Eastern on promotocross.com. The motos can also be viewed on MAVTV and NBCSN.

You can meet and get an autograph from Blake Baggett this Friday, July 1st from 6-7:00 PM at North End Cycle Shop, 2426 Cassopolis St., Elkhart, Indiana.
