A Tenth Overall with 9-10 Moto Finishes Aboard Suzuki RM-Z450
Chino, CA (August 14, 2016) – Matthew Bisceglia returned to action Saturday in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship at Unadilla in New Berlin, New York after missing three rounds with fractured ribs. Bisceglia raced the Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing RM-Z450 to 10th-place overall on the legendary upstate circuit scoring 9-10 moto finishes.
It marked the third top-10 450 class result of the season for Bisceglia, who signed on with Yoshimura Suzuki in June as a fill-in rider. Teammate James Stewart missed the round after tweaking his shoulder in a training incident earlier in the week and Blake Baggett is out for the remainder of the season due to injury.
Bisceglia gradually worked his way back up to speed during the Unadilla National weekend. He qualified 16th with a time of 2:25.916, giving little indication of the speed he was going to produce in the national.
The team was pleased when in both motos Bisceglia ran a solid and steady race on his sharp-handling Suzuki RM-Z450. He showed an amazing ability to bounce back to full speed after a month away from competition.
“It was a decent day for my first race back after missing a few rounds,” Bisceglia explained. “I took a little bit of time off after my crash at Southwick. It was a good day with the 9-10. I think my pace was a little bit faster in both motos. It was good. Unadilla hasn’t exactly been the best place for me in the past, so keeping in the top ten was a good accomplishment.”
The Yoshimura Suzuki squad now turn their attention to next week’s series penultimate round at Budds Creek, Maryland on Saturday, August 20. From there it’s straight to the Ironman National in Crawfordsville, Indiana, to wrap up the 2016 season.
“I’m looking forward to the final two rounds,” Bisceglia continued. “Those are two of my favorite tracks. I’m looking to stay in the top ten and maybe even try to crack the top five. That would be awesome.”
The Pro Motocross Championship resumes this coming Saturday at the Budds Creek National, not far from the nation’s capital. Live coverage begins at 10:00 am Eastern on www.promotocross.com. The motos can also be viewed on MAVTV and NBCSN.
